Description

Microsoft SQL Server license for 4 virtual processor cores on a VM with 3 years software assurance. If installed on a server without virtualization all processor cores must be licensed.

MS SQL Server Standard licensed by using per core model allows unlimited user access and SQL CALs are not required.

To license a server to run a SQL Server VM under the Per Core model you need a core licence for each virtual core assigned to the VM subject to a minimum of 4 core licences per VM(only available for subscriptions or licenses with software assurance). To license a physical SQL server under the Per Core licensing model you need to license all of the physical cores in the server (subject to a minimum of 4 core licences per processor).
